Manage Login Settings in VIDIZMO

In this article, learn how to manage login settings in VIDIZMO. The platform provides options to configure login settings, allowing users to manage user sessions and enhance security.

Users are logged out of VIDIZMO automatically by default after a few minutes of inactivity. Users can adjust this timeout setting to extend users logged-in duration. Once configured, users stay logged in for the specified time, even if they close their browser or shut down their computers. Furthermore, users can manage login attempts in the VIDIZMO portal. This feature helps prevent security threats, such as unauthorized access attempts.

Follow the steps below to learn how to manage login settings on any portal.

Prerequisite

Before you begin, ensure that you are part of a group with the Login Settings feature permission enabled.

  1. On the Account/Portal homepage, select the menu icon in the upper left-hand corner of the screen to bring up the left navigation pane.
  2. Go to Admin > Control Panel.
  3. Go to Security > Login Settings.

Configuring Login Timeout

To set the login timeout:

  1. Choose your preferred option:

    • Default Timeout: Choose this option to apply the default session timeout. This setting keeps the user logged in during a single session lasting 20 minutes.
    • Unlimited Timeout: This option prevents automatic logout during the session. The user is logged out if the browser is closed or the browser cache is manually cleared.
    • Limited Timeout: Choose this option to define a custom session timeout duration. Once selected, a field appears. Enter the desired session timeout duration in minutes.
  2. Select Update to apply the changes.

  3. A confirmation prompt appears. Select Update to confirm.

  4. A confirmation message displays: Portal Information Updated successfully.

Configuring Login Attempts

To set login attempts:

The fields are pre-populated with their default values. However, users can customize them as required.

  1. Configure the following settings:

    • Number of failed attempts: Set the maximum number of consecutive failed login attempts allowed before an action is taken based on your configured settings, like triggering a temporary account lock or login delay. The minimum value you can set is 3.
    • Duration within which attempts can occur (minutes): Specify the time (in minutes) for the consecutive failed login attempts. The minimum duration you can set is 5 minutes.
    • Account lock duration (minutes): Specify the account lock duration (in minutes). The minimum duration you can set is 5 minutes. After the defined number of failed login attempts is reached, the account remains locked for this specified period.
  2. Select Update to apply the changes.

  3. A confirmation prompt appears. Select Update to confirm.

  4. A confirmation message displays: Portal Information Updated successfully.

Login Delay

To add delay:

  1. Delay: Enable the toggle to introduce a delay before allowing another login attempt.

  2. Number of attempts after a delay occurs: Set the number of attempts after which a delay is triggered. The minimum number of attempts you can configure is 1. The maximum number of incorrect login attempts before a delay occurs is 3.

The number of attempts after which delay occurs must be less than the number of failed attempts allowed.

  3. Initial Delay Duration (seconds): Set the duration for the initial delay that occurs after the specified number of failed login attempts is reached.

For example, if you set 2 as the number of attempts after which the delay occurs, the delay starts after the second failed attempt, and the initial delay duration is as specified in this field. The minimum delay duration you can set is 5 seconds, and the maximum is 30 seconds.

  4. Delay Increase Factor: Set the number to determine how the delay increases after each subsequent failed login attempt. This factor is multiplied by the initial delay duration to calculate the delay for the successive attempts.

For example, if the initial delay is 10 seconds and you set the delay increase factor to 2, the delay for the second attempt is 20 seconds, and for the third attempt, it is 40 seconds. You can set a minimum delay increase factor of 1.5, and the maximum is 3.

  5. Select Update to apply the changes.

  6. A confirmation prompt appears. Select Update to confirm.

  7. A confirmation message displays: Portal Information Updated successfully.

If the account locks after the number of failed attempts, the account admin receives a notification email indicating that the user has exceeded the number of incorrect login attempts.

These settings allow organizations to customize their VIDIZMO portal according to their security requirements, making the portal secure from unauthorized access.
